What do pies and social media have in common? You might be thinking to yourself, “that’s an odd question.” And, well, yes it is. But, they do have something in common.
Any guesses?
Any?
At all?
Pie and social media have something fantastic in common! They both have the power to bring people together. Most of us probably have fond memories of throwing pies at the gym teacher during Homecoming or enjoying Grandma’s pecan pie at thanksgiving. No matter what your memory of pie is, it’s probably a happy one and others were probably there to enjoy with you. As far as social media goes? Well, what better way to come together as a community than to enjoy pie. Whether you enjoy a classic like apple. Or key lime. Or blueberry. Or pecan. Or…or…or all of the above, you are sure to find something worth eating at PieWars: The Pastry Strikes Back!
Designed as a social media gathering, PieWars has something else in mind: helping out Indy School on Wheels—a local organization that provides one-on-one tutoring to school-aged children that are impacted by homelessness. You will be able to purchase slices of pies for 5 dollars, enter pies for a judged contest, and bring a pie to donate to help raise money for School on Wheels.
I know it is hard to limit yourself to just one, but what’s your favorite kind of pie? Mine is strawberry!
P.S. – Be on the lookout for the Empire. You never know when Vader and his minions will show up.
